Our Aim

The Newhills Medical Practice aims to ensure that anyone contacting the surgery has guaranteed access to a GP, nurse or other health care professional within 48hrs in accordance with their clinical need.

Before making an appointment

You may wish to consider whether you need a face to face consultation with a GP.  Some problems can be dealt with over the telephone.  Some problems such as urine infections, rashes, emergency contraception etc can be dealt with by our Nurse Practitioners who can prescribe medication if necessary.  This will free up more time for GP appointments for addressing more difficult problems.

Your local pharmacy may also offer a minor illness service where over the counter medication can be issued free of charge to patients who do not normally pay for prescriptions.  For patients who do pay for prescriptions, it may be cheaper to buy over the counter medication than to pay prescription charges.

Appointment times

We offer several choices for making appointments.

6.00-8.15pm.                           These evening appointments have been provided primarily for our working  patients and can be booked up to one week in advance.  Please do not book these appointments if you can attend during the day.

If an emergency arises between the hours of 6.00pm and 8.30am, please contact the out-of-hours on 0845 424 24 24.   You will be offered telephone advice or be asked to attend the centre which is based in Easterhouse Health Centre.
